Is this legal advice?
No. All outputs are working drafts for a licensed attorney to review and finalize. Motion To File is not a law firm and using it does not create an attorney-client relationship.
Will this work in my state?
Yes — we support all 50 states and federal courts. Document templates are jurisdiction-aware, and automated local-rule compliance is being expanded court-by-court.
Who reviews the AI prompts?
Our prompts are developed and reviewed by practicing litigators before they ship, and re-reviewed when court rules or our model providers change.
Is my data confidential?
Yes — encrypted at rest (AES-GCM-256) and in transit (TLS 1.2+), and never used to train AI models. See our Trust page for the full detail.
What if the document needs changes?
Every draft is editable and exportable to PDF or Word for your attorney to redline. You can regenerate sections, swap in new facts, and re-download as many times as you need.
Are document analysis and translation really free?
Yes — every document you generate or upload includes one free document analysis and one free translation. Additional analyses or translations on the same document require an Entrepreneur or Business subscription, or a one-off credit pack. Both features require a signed-in account.

Is Motion To File™ a law firm?
No. MTF is a legal-technology platform. We do not provide legal advice, we do not represent clients, and using the Service does not create an attorney-client relationship. Every document is a working draft for review by a licensed attorney.
Who is the product for?
Solo and small-firm attorneys, in-house legal teams, and — within the limits of the unauthorized-practice-of-law rules in their jurisdiction — self-represented litigants who want a structurally sound starting point for a filing.
What kinds of documents can it generate?
Our library includes 100+ document types across eight categories: Legal Letters, Litigation & Motions, Business & Contracts, Real Estate & Property, Family Law, Employment & HR, Estate Planning, Disputes & Notices, and Transactions & Finance. Accuracy and quality
How accurate are the documents?
Outputs are produced by frontier large-language models and constrained by attorney-reviewed prompt scaffolds. They are designed to be a strong working draft — not a final filing. You must verify every fact, citation, and rule reference before relying on or filing any output.
Does it cite real cases?
Citations are checked in real time against CourtListener's free case-law database, normalized toward Bluebook form, and flagged when they can't be verified. Despite this, AI models can occasionally hallucinate authority — always confirm citations in a trusted research platform before filing.
Does it cover my jurisdiction?
Document templates are oriented toward U.S. federal courts and all 50 states. Automated local-rule compliance checking (page limits, fonts, certificates of service, word counts) is currently in beta for high-volume federal districts and select state trial courts and is expanding court-by-court. Pricing and billing
How much does it cost?
$19.99 per single document download, or a subscription: Entrepreneur at $49.99/mo ($39.99/mo billed annually) or Business at $99.99/mo ($79.99/mo billed annually). Document analysis and document translation are free for the first run on every document.
Do unused documents or research queries roll over?
No. Monthly plan allowances — documents and legal research queries on the Entrepreneur and Business plans — are strictly per calendar month and reset on the first of each month (UTC). Unused capacity from a prior month is forfeited and does not carry forward. Separately purchased one-off credits do not expire.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Monthly subscriptions can be cancelled from your account page and will not renew. Annual plans are eligible for a pro-rated refund within the first 14 days if you've generated fewer than 5 documents. See our Refund Policy.
Security and privacy
Is my matter data confidential?
Yes. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-GCM-256). We contractually prohibit our AI providers from training on your inputs or outputs, and we do not sell or share your matter data. See our Privacy Policy.
Where is my data stored?
On managed cloud infrastructure located in the United States.
Legal and ethical use
Can a non-lawyer use this to file in court?
Self-represented litigants can use MTF to prepare a working draft, but they are solely responsible for the accuracy, sufficiency, and filing of any document. MTF does not provide legal advice and is not a substitute for consulting a licensed attorney. Please read our Risk Disclosure Statement.
Is using AI-generated drafts ethical for attorneys?
Yes, provided you (a) review and verify every output, (b) maintain client confidentiality, (c) comply with your jurisdiction's rules on AI use and citation verification, and (d) do not bill clients in a manner inconsistent with your jurisdiction's rules. We strongly recommend reviewing the most recent ABA and state-bar guidance on generative-AI use in legal practice.
